How to prepare for a sleep study at home?

Follow your normal day and sleep routine. In addition, follow the below guidelines on the day of your test:
• Avoid stimulants – No caffeine or heavy meals before bed.
• Dress comfortably – Loose pajamas, no lotions.
• Reassure them – The test is painless and done at home.
• Set up a calm space – Keep the bedroom quiet and relaxing.
• Follow device instructions – Ensure the Gabi band is properly placed and charged.

What if my child can’t sleep during a sleep study?

The Gabi band is designed for maximum child comfort and minimal disruption during sleep. However, should the test prove unsuccessful, we will provide you with a free replacement.

How does a home sleep test work?

During the home sleep test, your child will wear the Gabi device to track key sleep metrics. Simply follow the setup instructions to connect it to Wi-Fi. Data is automatically sent to our doctor for review. Once we receive the device back via the prepaid return label, you'll get the final report.

Will insurance cover home sleep apnea tests?

Gabi does not bill insurance directly. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your insurance provider. If you plan to submit the expense or results for reimbursement, we recommend checking with your insurer before purchasing the Gabi Home Sleep Test.

How accurate is an at-home sleep test?

Our at-home sleep test provides reliable and accurate results thanks to validated technology. We believe in transparency, which is why we've made all our scientific research and clinical studies available here.

What age range is appropriate for the test?

Our sleep test is specifically designed for children from age 2 up until their 13th birthday, covering the crucial developmental years from toddlerhood through early adolescence.

How long does the entire process take?

The Gabi sleep test is carried out in just one night. From order to receipt of results, the whole process usually takes less than two weeks.

How to interpret the home sleep study results?

One of our Sleep Doctors will review your child's sleep apnea test results and provide a detailed report, clearly indicating whether a sleep disorder is present. If diagnosed, the report will include a recommended treatment plan, all explained in a clear, easy-to-understand format for non-medical professionals.

What happens after the test?

If your prescription is from an external physician, they will receive the sleep report for follow-up. If obtained through our website, you can book a teleconsultation with our Sleep Doctor to review results and discuss next steps. Note that this consultation is separate from the sleep test and may be billed to you or your insurance.

How much does a sleep test cost?

Gabi's complete sleep testing service is priced at $499, with no hidden fees. This represents a substantial saving compared to traditional laboratory sleep tests, which cost an average of $3,075 in 2024 and typically involve a 6-12 month wait for an appointment.

Is the test safe for my child?

Your child's safety is our top priority. The sleep testing solution developed by Gabi SmartCare consists of an FDA-approved device (PediarityTM) and an FDA-approved sleep report.
